Bum Lee

Bum Lee Bum Lee is a filmmaker, computer animation artist, and illustrator. He was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1984 and moved to the United States with his family in 1990.

He studied fine art and computer animation at the School of Art in Carnegie Mellon University, where he received his BFA in 2006. That year, he received a Fulbright Fellowship to South Korea, where he studied animation theory and created video and animation works. His short animation SPORTS AND DIVERSIONS has won several awards and has been shown in numerous international festivals.

Bum currently lives in Seoul and collaborates with independent filmmakers and media activists, including Nameless Films and Migrant Worker TV. He was the Editor of THE RETURNEE, a short documentary about migrant worker activists and leaders of the Migrants Trade Union in South Korea who were deported to their native countries of Bangladesh and Nepal. He also created the animated leader films for the Migrant Worker Film Festival in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
